That's like giving Osama Bin Laden the 'Football'

Well, the suit was originally going to be highly explosive, and Nitrine needed a test case to make sure it wasn't her that blew up! It's not so much giving Zintiel the suit as it is making sure Nitrine's not there when it's turned on Very Happy

Also, there is no overkill.

I really wish I wasn't cutting this so close... still have 2/5s left to do tonight.

And I'm not quite sure how I'm going to do 1/5th of that.

Fun with 11th hour action!

Sorry for the double post here, but I finally finished this thing!

If you care to look at it, it can be found at the following link:

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v260/slayzer/Diary/

Anyway, I might as well give a quick rundown of the thing for all 3 people who actually bother to look at it =)

I was a bit leery of submitting a written work to this contest, simply because its hard to compete with more visual works in this sort of thing. Its not that they aren't good, just they lack an immediate impact. But, since I'm a writer and not an artist, a written work it was!

Now then, I personally dislike writing fanfiction. I don't have anything against it, but if I do write stuff in other people's settings it usually has to be off to the side. Main characters may make passing appearances, but the writing is focused on making use of the setting and events going on in the setting.

So I was going to write a story about someone visiting the city to tour the university as a prospective student. That way the main character of the narrative is original and I could observe the events in the story without actually interacting with them. I chose to use the Penguin Thief as this character's cousin, since he's minor enough that there aren't really any dangers of writing conflicts. That I know of anyway.

Also he steals penguins, which is pretty darn funny.

Anyway, I was reading another comic and the author mentioned that she received some fan stories in the form of diary entries. That sounded like a really great idea, so I decided to write this as a string of diary entries as well. And as I was thinking about it, I realized I could add a visual aspect by actually making them 'real' entries. And so you have a string of 16 pictures, each one being a page in this diary.

A couple side notes, and then I'll stop before this post is longer than the actual submission. I decided to name the Penguin Thief Galen. I've always liked the name, its rather classic and dignified which was funny to me to pair up with a guy who steals penguins, and it just seemed awkward to refer to him as 'my cousin' all the time.

Since my ability to sketch is limited, and my ability to shop sketches onto the diary pages was worse, I elected to have her be very fond of stickers. With one exception (which I don't think will be an issue in this case) all of the pictures I turned into stickers were free use. But, since I didn't draw any of them I didn't want to post these pages on DeviantArt. Hence, photobucket.

The font is called Jellyka - Estrya's Handwriting. Hopefully its isn't too light or small, I tried to find a font that looked personal and feminine without being hard to read. While working on them it was just fine, though the final product looks a little smaller than I expected.

Anyway, I hope some of you take the time to check it out. They should be in numerical order on that page.

Thanks for running this contest, this was a lot of fun!

I E-mailed this in last night before the deadline. It's not my greatest work, but when you're down to the wire revision is a luxury you can ill afford. @Jai: Procrastinators of Oregon unite! Wink

Lady From Another World

In the future
Or in the now
Nitrine is
The cat's meow

No one tops her
Innovation
Timeliness and
Motivation

Her friend Zintiel
May have her beat
For craziness
And height in feet

But wielding swords
Is not her thing
She'd rather make
Some techno-bling

Enjoying to
Manipulate
From time to time
Kurt gets a date

Morgana though
Is molding clay
A kiss and call
Will make her day

Swinging both ways
Is just her style
They'll get it in
A little while

Mona Theist
Would tell Marelle
Her closest friend
Will go to Hell

Such talk won't scare
Our goblin lass
Into catching
Catholic Mass

Instead she lives
Consequence free
In colored ink
For all to see

Did mine a few weeks ago.

Purifier Over Zazabul.

Your basic fanfic. If I did my job right it should feel like a Flaky Pastry Story Arc. Of course it's not as perfect as what Felix can whip up but hopefully its a worthy homage. What's really funny is the current for real comic future thread started in the middle of me writing this story so I had to make some modifications mid way. I think it's pretty decent for my first swipe at fanfiction. Even if I don't win I'm glad to have been part of this contest.

Hi!

So the contest is over, I've gotten exactly THIRTY entries (Yay round number!) (Yay two times 15!).

This Friday and Saturday were very busy days and I know there's several of the later entrants that I didn't reply to and thank personally for their entries, but I wish to thank ALL of you, because I really appreciate all your entries! Twirling

If I was a robot like Prism, I'd draw a prize to each and everyone of you! Surprised But as it is, I'll settle for honourable mentions to 15% of the participants; this means 5 sketches to 5 people (4.5 rounded up!). This is IN ADDITION to first and second place big winners!

With so many lovely entries, I need some time to mull over the big decision(s), but be assured that the winners will be announced, at the latest, next Friday along with the next Pastry update! Croissant!

Knowing that the this does not concern the competition directly and I dont claim any rights to the picture in question...
BUT. Its a very accurate RL picture for our own favourite goblin and shes hot enuf to fit the drawn fantasy.

ANd yes, I made the account just so I could post a picture of our goddess.. =p
