Flaky Pastry Fan Contest!
What?
That's right, I'm holding a contest for Flaky Pastry fans! Some have asked for it - or rather, voted for that option over nine others when polled. So, here we go! Anyone can enter, with basically any kind of fan work. Drawings, paintings, cosplay, fanfics, poems, 3D models, flash animations, songs, stained glass, bronze sculpture, land art, etc. etc. The theme is anything related to Flaky Pastry (as in the webcomic).
You can submit your work in one of the following ways:
- By e-mail, to: contest (at) runningwithpencils.com
- On this forum, just post a link to it in this thread
- On the Sage Comics forum, in the thread there: (link)
- Through my deviantart account; either reply to the journal post or send me a note.
Rules:
- The deadline for the contest is October 16th 2009, at midnight. That gives you two months!
- What you enter must be your own work, obviously.
- You can enter more than once, as long as you enter another kind of fan work (a drawing, a fanfic, and a puppet show, for exemple) - you're still only eligible to win once. Yeah, the only reason for this is to encourage diversity!
- PG-13, please!
Prizes:
After the deadline, I will pick winners! The criteria for attribution of prizes will be "Most awesome". Yes, that is a bit subjective. There is also a strong possibility of honourable mentions. And definitely all the entries will be listed in the Art page of the comic site. The winners will get prizes, which they will choose from this list:- A full colour commission from me
- Three pencil commissions from me
- A cameo (almost certainly non-speaking) of the character of your choice in Flaky Pastry
- A 25$ gift certificate from the online vendor of your choice (as long as it does offer gift certificates)
The first place winner gets to pick two (2) choices from this list.
The second place winner gets to pick one (1).
The same option may be picked more than once, by either winner.
But wait! There's more! If the contest ends up being really popular, I might kick things up a notch.
If there is a total of 100 entrants or more in the contest, then I will be really surprised. But also:
The first place winner gets to pick three (3) choices from the list.
The second place winner gets to pick two (2).
The third place winner gets to pick one (1).
So get cookin'! _________________ Félix

Feel free to delete my post, FG, but I'm just wondering if maybe it should be:
MOST VENOM
instead of most awesome
Or is it automatically assumed that nothing can be as venom as your artwork - which is an assumption I am prepared to support _________________ Buy a board game - support independent inventions - save the environment:

Sorry if there was a misunderstanding You're totally allowed to post in this thread as much as you like! it's just the second post that I was reserving to summarize all the entries so far
"Most Venom" might have been in keeping with the theme, but I think "most awesome" will be clearer, since we're using the dictionary definition of the word, which would not be the case with venom
Heck, I could make the criteria "Most überdandy" if we were in the future _________________ Félix |

Very cool, Kashim!
Congratulations on being the first entrant in the contest, btw
I have to wonder, though! Where is that photo from? Is that you or a friend of yours under the manip? _________________ Félix |

The photo was taken in a burned out mill house, a few decades ago it burned down and just the lower stone level remained, a roof was built on it and its used as storage now. The pistol is just one of my pistols (Springfield xd in .45 ACP) and the rifle is airsoft. All the bullet casings I just picked up at the shooting range last week. The vest i made with some black canvas, an old jacket zipper and some stuff i had laying around.
Under the very poor photoshop work is me, shot with a cheap digital camera on a time release. |

Since I lack confidence in my own creativity (or creatativity, for that matter), I may have to sit this contest out. Which would suck, 'cause those are some nifty prizes. So I have to enter, just to try to win. Argh. _________________ Now that I'm here, I feel like running away.... |

I was thinking about entering the contest just for fun (not even thinking of the prizes here, I entirely skipped that secion on the first (and second) readthroughs).
My artwork sucks, but I might give it a shot. _________________ The only difference between insanity and genius is the level of success.

That's nifty and cool, Kashim! I love how you got to this result just with stuff you had readily accessible to you... then again, I don't have guns or burnt-down windmills available to me, so yeah Anyway, great job!
You other guys: Pffffff! Just because someone else already entered the contest isn't a good reason to not enter! There's at least two winners, for one thing Not to mention honourable mentions (mentioning mentions?) Haha, it's up to you of course, but I hope you all do enter! _________________ Félix |
