I'm the newest of newbs. Been reading FP for quite some time and it has taken first place on my list of favourite comics! (I do read several)

So, hai. Finally joined the forums. I would have awhile ago, though the whole clicking a link in your e-mail bit sort of annoys me, as I am a person of the highest laziness.

Forgive my complete and utter ignorance (also known as FAIL) in this post, but why am I Dr. Nick?

The reference makes sense in my brain now!

"Why are you monkeys running away?"
"Because I torture them horribly, silly!"

(And, sadly, I am on dial up so any links to will be ignored and have a fist shaken at)

And I'm glad you like me! Even if it isn't the best of all possible ideas.

I live in the boonies! Unless they one day manage to make corn-based wifi, I am utterly devoid of high speeds.

But you do have dial-up which gives you the option of DSL (digital subscriber line).

Nerdy DSL can be used at the same time and on the same telephone line with regular telephone, as it uses high frequency, while regular telephone uses low frequency.

So you see... Squidly! the boonies have thier own cornfed High Speed of sorts... and it is affordable... Cake!

DSL is only available within so many miles of the office - three miles, about, give or take. I'm living five miles away from where the DSL is coming from, so I'm out of range.

Trust me, I've looked into broadband. The only option is satellite, which is a nice 400 dollars upfront. Yikes.

Which is why most of us, me included, go for Cable Broadband. Costs me only $90 a month including Landline.

Wow, that is craziness incarnate in bill form!

I move to a house that's closer to town (and also lacks heat) every summer, and I get broadband there, which is about 30 dollars a month. 90 dollars ... wow.
