I guarantee you that any remake of the forbidden planet without the trademarked appearance of Robbie will be an instant failure.

Kinda like the new craptastic Star Trek being produced and directed by the ultimate loser of so called modern science fiction - J.J. Abrams

His enterprise looks like absolute crap.

Idea Just a weird thought ...

Nerdy If you take away the window dressing barrowed from Farewell to the Master, the essences of the 1951 version of The day the Earth stood still is:
  • A machine intelligence becomes Earth’s dictator policeman by threatening humanity with extinction.

With that in mind… Confused
Isn’t Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) the first actual remake of The day the Earth stood? Jello!

Actually it seems that this is a major precursor to the whole concept of Skynet with a bit of 1984 mixed in to boot.

I'd compare The Day the Earth Stood Still more against the idea of Aliens holding Earth Hostage and telling humans how not to behave rather than computer menace controlling the earth.

PS: lead actor is Victor Newman from Young and the Restless! I gotta show my mom this clip, she loves that show and the actor.
